Peru: Judiciary orders lifting of Pedro Castillo's banking secrecy

15:51 | Lima, Nov. 15.

The Judicial Branch has ordered the lifting of the banking secrecy of ex-President Pedro Castillo, who is being investigated for collusion, influence peddling, and for allegedly being part of a criminal organization.

The measure —announced on the X platform (formerly known as Twitter) on Wednesday— was also imposed on former Ministers Juan Silva and Geiner Alvarado.

In this sense, Supreme Court of Preparatory Investigation Judge Juan Carlos Checkley ordered that the Superintendence of Banking, Insurance, and Private Pension Fund Administrators (SBS) proceed with said measure.

Likewise, it was indicated that the information to be sent to the Prosecutor's Office dates from April 12, 2021, to December 31, 2022.

The investigation of former President Pedro Castillo is related to case called "The Shadow Cabinet."
